Lost in translation: One in three Australians with inflammatory bowel disease experience disconnect with doctor

One in three Australians with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) left their medical consultations with misunderstandings about what was discussed, posing risks to their safety and the management of their condition, according to a new study from Dr Neda Karimi, Research Fellow at the Institute for Communication in Healthcare (ICH).

Neda's research on doctor-patient alignment in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and the communication practices that foster such alignment, published in Patient Education and Counseling, has garnered attention from multiple media outlets (Medical Xpress, The National Tribune, Mirage News and Crohn’s & Colitis Australia).
